Sunday Safari Ft. Emily Singer

SUNDAY SAFARI
Emily Singer is a content marketer for Daily Harvest by day and the brains behind one of our favorite newsletters, Chips + Dips, by night. Emily shares her five favorite stores near her home in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
You probably get too many newsletters to even keep track. We get it, so do we. But you are going to need to make some space for one more. Emily Singer's Chips + Dips newsletter is consistently among the most insightful and differentiated among the contenders in the consumer retail space. In addition to small news bites (the "chips") and deeper dives ("the dips"), you get a bonus recipe at the end for a "real dip" (past dips have included a jammy zucchini and a pea and fava bean dip).
Emily shared with us her favorite local stores and explained that "the common theme is that these are all stores that invite and reward exploration, browsing, and touching." We love her emphasis on local stores and the importance of discovery in a great retail experience. Check our her picks below!
1. THE PRIMARY ESSENTIALS
Cobble Hill, Brooklyn | Website
"If I could copy/paste a store into my apartment, it would be TPE. Everything they stock is quiet and understated and just really, really beautiful."
2. SOUNDS
Park Slope, Brooklyn | Website
"It's wellness-oriented, beautifully curated, and doesn't take itself too seriously. They serve fancy slushies and have a little backyard, too — it's a nice little escape from the crowds and strollers along 7th Avenue."
3. BKLYN LARDER
Prospect Heights, Brooklyn | Website
"I love, love, love specialty grocers, and BKLYN Larder is one of the best. I'll stop in to pick up some high-quality vinegar, fancy grains, and a pack of their spiced nuts (they're truly next level)."
4. BOOKS ARE MAGIC
Cobble Hill, Brooklyn | Website
"As a voracious reader, bookstores have a magnetic pull on me. Books Are Magic is one my favorites — their recommendations are always spot-on and they host great talks."
5. COMING SOON
Lower East Side | Website
"Equal parts retro and contemporary, Coming Soon is my first destination any time I need to buy a gift."
